IBM 7137 upgrade to Dial-a-Host information

Introduction to 7137 upgrade

This document contains information on determining if you need to upgrade and on how to upgrade to Dial-a-Host on the different host systems. The section "Current Open System Code" contains a link to the IBM 7137 software update page.

Moving a 7137 to an NCR** (AT&T**) system from a different host.
The NCR systems require the 7137 support Dial-a-Host before it is attach to the NCR system. Follow the host specific instructions in the next section, for the host system the 7137 is currently attached to, to determine if you need to update the 7137 and for instruction on how to do it.

Host system specific instructions

1. Power on the 7137, and wait for the operator panel to display B000 or B000Lmmm.
2. Open/remove the front cover.
3. Enter a 146D (enter), to display the controller code lid.
4. Record the controller code lid.
5. Enter a 147D (enter), to display the controller code level.
6. Record the controller code level.
7. Enter a 156 , to display the operator panel load id.
8. Record the operator panel load id.

Now select your host system from the list below for specific instructions.

• IBM RISC System/6000

• HP**9000 Series 700 and 800

• SUN** Solaris 2.3, 2.4, and 2.5

• NCR (AT&T) Systems 3455 and 3555

7137 upgrade -- RISC System/6000

You can ftp the latest level code from IBM.

Once you have the latest level of the controller code, see the Attach Guide for instructions on downloading the new controller code to your 7137(s).

If the operator panel load id level is A1200311 or higher you do not need to update it. You must contact your service representative to get new operator panel code, or contact customer support.

You can ftp the latest level code from IBM.

Once you have the latest level of the controller code, see the Attach Guide (SA21-9648-04 or later) for instructions on downloading the new controller code to your 7137(s).
